My presentation will be about the Circassian (Adyghe) language and its current situation. Circassian language belongs to the Northwestern Caucasian language family.
UNESCO classified Adyghe language in its 2009 UNESCO Map of the World’s Languages in Danger as vulnerable. It is mainly spoken in the Adygea region in contemporary Russia, and in diaspora countries in Turkey, Jordan, Israel, Syria, United States and Europe. Today, Circassian language is facing a number of challenges. In this talk I will try to introduce you to the Circassian language and the challenges it currently faces.
Umut Uğrak hails from Izmir, Turkey. He has a degree in Computer Science. Besides his degree, he’s a language enthusiast and also a freelance tutor/translator. He lived abroad in United Kingdom, United States, Germany and Poland in different periods. He’s fluent in English, Polish and has decent command of German and Russian languages. He likes travelling a lot and eager to meet with other polyglots/linguists from anywhere in the world.

Nach ihrer Verhaftung wird Claire und Geillis der Hexenprozess gemacht. Viele Zeugen, darunter auch Laoghaire, finden sich ein, die die beiden Frauen mit oftmals fadenscheinigen Beweisen der Hexerei beschuldigen. Ned Gowan taucht auf, in der Hoffnung, das Schlimmste verhindern zu können. Doch nachdem er anfänglich einige Aussagen widerlegen konnte, gehen Ned im Laufe des Prozesses zunehmend die Argumente aus. So stellt er Claire und Geillis vor die Entscheidung, Geillis als Hexe darzustellen, damit wenigstens Claire mit dem Leben davonkommt. Da sich Claire weigert und ausgepeitscht wird, sieht Geillis nur noch eine Chance: sie gesteht, eine Hexe zu sein und wird zum Tode verurteilt. Zu der Zeit kommt Jamie in den Gerichtssaal gestürmt und nimmt Claire mit. Endlich in Sicherheit, erzählt Claire Jamie ihre ganze Geschichte. - Und er glaubt ihr. Er bringt sie zum Craigh Na Dun, damit sie in ihre Zeit zurückreisen kann. Doch sie entscheidet sich für Jamie.
