Nalchik (Karachay-Balkarian Nalchiq, Nalchyk[3], Russian: Nalchik; Kabardian: Nalshyk) is the capital of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic, located in the North Caucasus in southern Russia. It is located at the foot of the Caucasus Mountains, at an altitude of 550 meters. The city is spread over an area of 150 km2.[4] The city has a green area of 991 hectares. Population: 240,203 (2010).

On the site of the present-day city of Nalchik, according to records, Kabardians and Balkars lived since 1743. Kent, 19. in the XIII century, it was founded as a military fortress in 1818 by the Russians, who captured the region during the Ottoman-Russian War of 1768-1774. Nalchik was an insignificant settlement before the October Revolution of 1917. It received the status of a city as the center of the Kabardino-Autonomous Oblast, which was established on September 1, 1921. There are road and railway extensions from the main roads in the North Caucasus to Nalchik, as well as a small airport.

The city of Nalchik takes its name from the Nalchik River on which it is founded. But this name is not considered to be directly derived from the word nal in Turkish

Куро́ртное или Четвёртое о́зеро — искусственное озеро в городе Нальчик в Кабардино-Балкарской Республике. Четвёртый по последовательности искусственный водоём, созданный в середине XX века в городском парке.

Озеро расположено в южной части города Нальчик, в курортном районе Долинск, на высоте 577 метров над уровнем моря. С юга и востока озеро окружено отрогами Лесистого хребта.

Искусственное озеро было создано в начале 1960 года у северного подножия горы Большая Кизиловка. Водой оно наполняется из горной реки Нальчик, протекающей к юго-востоку от озера.

Абсолютная глубина озера колеблется в разные сезоны года. Летом максимальная глубина достигает 7 метров, при средней глубине озера в 3 метра. Весной и осенью максимальная глубина составляет около 4-5 метров. Зимой озеро осушается, для его чистки.

The Circassian Circle appeared in the British ballroom in the 1820s from a concept of arranging a popular quadrille or country dance figure in a progressive Sicilian circle. It became very popular in several main forms and further versions evolved via the folk process in the villages of the British Isles. It was still very popular in Australia as a ballroom dance in the early decades of the 20th C enjoying a place on programmes up till the 1930s as part of the Old Time Dance revival. Any references to Circassian Circle up until then relate to these forms, part 2 did not exist till introduced through British folk dance revivals and the Australian ‘bush dance’ movement of the 1960s and 70s; ‘part 1’ was then used to distinguish the original progressive Sicilian style.
Thus the version commencing with the ‘right & left’ movement has been taken from figure 1 of ‘The Quadrille’ or ‘First Set’ and the version with the ‘hands across & back again’ (right & left star) is from figure 1 of the Caledonians Quadrille.
Lovenberry’s MC Manual of the Ithaca School of Dancing in Brisbane 1884 lists nine different versions of Circassian Circle of which No. V is a particularly good version incorporating both figure 1 of the Caledonians Quadrille and Galop forward and back around the circle followed by a half ladies’ chain for the progression. This has been shown as version 3.
Other Circassian Circles described have adapted country dance figures such as from the Spanish Waltz into what is now known as the Waltz Country Dance, and the British folk dance ‘Cottages’ can be linked to a Circassian Circle arrangement from figure 4 of the Lancers, whilst the American version of the Soldier’s Joy is a Circassian Circle adaptation from an earlier Country Dance by that name.
Circassian Circle part 2 was not known by that name in Australia till the 70s bush dance revival, but was known under the name of Stockyards or Bull Ring as a final figure of the Quadrille (First Set).

The Anthem of the Republic of Adygea (Russian: Гимн Республики Адыгея, Gimn Respubliki Adygeya; Adyghe: Адыгэ Республикэм и Гимн, Latin transcription: Adygæ Respublikæm i Gimn, Modern Arabic transcription: آدىغَ رہسپٗوبليكَم يى گيمن) is the regional anthem of the Republic of Adygea, a federal subject of Russia. It is one of Adygea's national symbols, along with its flag and coat of arms. The lyrics were written by Iskhak Mashbash, and the music composed by Umar Tkhabisimov. The anthem was approved by decision of the Supreme Council of Adygea on March 25, 1992. This was one of the first decisions made by the republic's parliament after the collapse of the Soviet Union.
