Oklubalı Köyü (Hakurine Hable)
Kısa Tarihi;
1556 dan sonra başlayıp 1864 e kadar süren Kafkas-Rus savaşları
Çerkesya’nın Ruslar tarafından işgaliyle sonuçlanmıştır. Rus çarı 2.Aleksander
Çerkesler’e “Vadilerdeki oturduğunuz yerden çıkıp size gösterilen ovalardaki yerlere
iskan edeceksiniz ya da sürgün edileceksiniz.” ültimatomunu verir. Çerkesler’in % 95’i
bu ültimatomu kabul etmez ve vatanlarından sürgün edilir. % 5 gibi çaresiz bir azınlık
ovalara iskan ettirilmek suretiyle bırakılır. Şimdi Adığey Cumhuriyeti sınırları içinde
kalan Hakurine Hable, 1859 yılında, o zamanlar çiftlikler halinde dağlık vadilerinde
yaşayan Abdzah sülalelerin çıkartılmasıyla kurulmuştur. İskan edildikleri bölgede
yenilgi ve esareti kabul etmeyen Abdzah aileler 1864 yılında Meretıko Hacı Zekeriya
Bey önderliğinde vatanı terk ederler. Bunlara civar kabilelerden Wubıx, Bjedığu,
Besleney, Abazin, Çemguy, Şapsığlardan da sülaleler katılır. Meretıko Hacı Zekeriya
Bey yanındaki Thamatelerle birlikte Sultan Abdülaziz ile görüşüp kendilerine yer
gösterilmesini ister. Padişah kendisine “mahiyetiyle birlikte istediği yere yerleşebilir”
diye belge verir. Halk Kafkasya dan gemilerle getirilir. Bir kısmı İstanbul üzerinden
Oklubalı’nın şimdi bulunduğu yere yerleştirilir. Böylece Oklubalı Köyü tahmini 1865-
1866 yıllarında kurulur. Bir kısmı da Bulgaristan’a yerleştirilir. Burada Topallar köyünü
kurarlar. 1878’de Osmanlı’nın Balkanlarda yenilmesiyle buradan da çıkarılan halk
Oklubalı’na gelirler.

Kabartay’dan gelen sülaleler: 1-Ts’ımp’a, 2-Dışek, 3-Pşemaho, 4-Allahberdi, 5-
Debağo, 7-Bala, 8-X’ux’ğa, 9-Bağ 10-Karma, 11-Thaçoko, 12-Tawbike, 13-Şamoko
Abaze sülaleler: 1-A-Brakua, 2-Pekiz, 3-A-Jıya, 4-Karden, 5-Agıra (Agıralar Aşkharıwa
bölgesinden gelmişler. Diğerleri Aşuwa olup geldikleri yer Kuban’ın doğduğu yerler ve
Şegerey civarıdır)
Çerkesler yaklaşık 150 yıldır bu topraklarda var olma mücadelesi vermektedir. İşte bu
hazırlamış olduğumuz CD Eskişehir bölgesi Çerkesler inin kendilerine münhasır ata
mirası kültürlerini yansıtan müziklerden oluşmuştur. Dedelerimizi Rahmetle anıyoruz.

This May, the Circassian minority in Turkey marked a solemn anniversary. The Russian Empire deported the Circassians 155 years ago from their homeland in the northeastern shores of the Black Sea. Most of the Circassian exiles were absorbed into the Ottoman Empire, settling as far away as present-day Jordan. We take a look at their centuries old traditions that remain very much alive today.

The new year, like many other cultures, represents a significant time for Circassians, and they were celebrating their own new year around the March Equinox, long before Christianity reached the region. After adapting to Christianity during the Middle Ages, they also started to celebrate Christmas and they called it Hurome. It was originally a pre-Christianity festive.

Although Circassians accepted Christianity, they typically kept most of their own faiths and traditions, uniquely combining them into Christianity. And it equally affected their Christmas celebrations, so it's not a surprise to see that Hurome contains many Pagan rituals endemic in Circassians along with Christian traditions.

This is a habitual behavior in Circassians,
as seen later on when they adapted to Islam.
They continued to practice many of their own traditions,
ignoring the Islamic rules or Sharia,
especially conflicting orders with Khabze, the moral codes of Circassian Societies.

Hurome celebrations begin on January 7th with a tour around the village by a group of people, mostly children and younger Circassians, carrying baskets and singing songs special to Hurome day. During the tour they pass by every house and collect gifts, sweets and food from householders. The most popular gift is the egg.

After the tour is completed, the collected products are used for cooking, which is a social cooperation, and everyone voluntarily contributes to it. Every member of the society including strangers passing by are graciously welcomed to the celebration dinner.

When the dinner is finished, it's time to have fun. Young female and males gather around dancing, singing and playing different games. During the ceremony there is also praying where it starts in the choreography at 04:00. Some of the translations recited prayers are as follows:

Circassians would inevitably leave Hurome ceremonies, as they were struggling to resist against
Russia's long-lasting brutal invasion, Islam began growing and replacing rapidly older beliefs throughout the region earlier in the 19th century.

Having lost its ritual functions and literal meanings, Hurome evolved into a children's game. And, like many other things they had once possessed, it was eventually perished away from the collective memories of Circassians as a result of their tragic exile from the historic homeland.

Although the majority of Circassians don't practice or remember it anymore, a small minority of Christian/Pagan Circassians left in Mozdok and North Ossetia, are still preserving some Hurome traditions as today.

The Marmara Esma Sultan <br />Istanbul’s rich cultural heritage has left a legacy of outstanding historical sites that provide an exciting backdrop for meetings, special events and theme parties. <br />One of these sites is a mansion located on The Bosphorus the strait that separates Europe and Asia. This mansion reflecting the Golden Age of Istanbul is named after its original owner, Esma Sultan, the daughter of Sultan Abdülaziz I. <br /><br />Esma Sultan was born in 1873 and when she was 16 years old she was married to Mehmed Pasha the Circassian who was one of the leading statesmen of his time. She became a prominent and admired woman known for her lively and colorful character. <br />One of these mansions in particular, after withstanding neglect and suffering a fire and an earthquake, ended up first as a tobacco warehouse and then as a coal depot. The ruins were taken over by The Marmara Hotels group in the 1990’s, and finally, in 2001, the mansion was given a new cultural identity.
