Dance of the Anatolian Circassians or locally known as Sheshen is a very popular Circassian dance performed in every wedding and celebration ceremony. Its origin is not known clearly, but modern versions are inspired by Circassians living in Turkey. It has a moderate pace although there are some faster versions mixed with Lezginka in some regions.
Every couple performs the dance inside a wide circle surrounded by the crowd and guests. Couples take the floor one by one and show their skills to the community. The man needs to do his best to get the woman's attention and the crowd's appreciation. The other men in the circle encourage and support him during the dance with cheers and chants. Although there are some basic elements, custom improvisations are very important. Performers should not repeat other people's patterns and they have to be creative because individual compositions are seen as a signature for the person. Like all other Circassian dances, the dance duration depends on the woman and keeps going on until she decides to finish it. It's accepted a very rude behavior if the man leaves the scene first.

Dear Circassians,
Congratulations on the world Circassian language day.
The World Circassian Youth Organization presents on this day a short film named: I am Adige, I speak Adigebze.
One of the oldest unchanged languages in the world ... Adigebze.
This beautiful language that has existed for thousands of years is unfortunaty considered by linguists and specialized organizations (incl: UNESCO) as endangered.
Adighabza has deep roots in the North Caucasus region.
Greeks used Circassian names to denominate the river Danube (Circassian: Танэпс). They also knew the Sea of Azof as the Maeotian sea ( Circassian: мы1ут, the sea which cannot be dammed).
The influence of Circassian language remains today in the names of Ukrainian families ending with the suffix -ko, from the Circassian word къуэ for : the son of.
Adigebze is mainly divided into two dialects: eastern and western.
In the homeland, Adigebze is spoken in all areas where Adiges live.
With rather less speakers in diaspora, it is mostly the the elders that speak the language fluently.
Today we have all kinds of sources to learn it.
We as CYO have several projects to teach Adigebze including a rich website dedicated to sharing materials and a language parnter program together with people from the homeland.
If you speak Adigebze, use it! Speak with your children and teach them. If you don't, what you can do is find an online teacher and show them materials like cartoons and films.
Let us work together, so our children can speak it fluently.
We still have a chance.
December 9, 2012 - Circassians of the USA at the Russian Consulate in NYC in support of Circassians in Syria.
Recently, there have been many demonstrations and one-man stands in Moscow, Nalchik, Maykop, Turkey, Abkhazia, and other locations in support of allowing our Circassians in war torn Syria repatriate to our homeland.
As Circassians in America, we are joining this united global call to allow our compatriots get out of danger and return to our homeland.
Черкесы(адыги), а также абхазы, абазины и убыхи переселялись на территорию Османской империи в основном после Кавказской войны в XIX веке. Убыхи, насильно изгнанные русскими войсками в Турцию, потеряли идентичность и влились либо в турецкий этнос, либо в черкесский (адыгский). Черкесское(адыгское) население в Турции проживает практически повсеместно, в частности в провинциях Хатай и Самсун, а также в провинции Дюзче и городе Чанаккале.
Осетины в Турции живут в провинциях Карс и Йозгат
Чеченцы живут в основном в городе Кахраманмараш,Карс,Сивас,Стамбул а также в провинции Мардин.
Дагестанская диаспора (в основном аварцы, лезгины и кумыки) проживают в провинциях Токат, Балыкесир, Ялова.
Карачаевцы и балкарцы проживают в регионе Конья.

The 21st of May, a day only a Circassian will remember. It is the day when the freedom loving people of the North Caucasus, the Circassians, after 100 years of continuous brutal war, nay massacre, by Tsarist Russia, and hundreds of years before that against other foes, finally succumbed to leave their heavenly lands under a deceitful trickery between the Tsars and Ottamans.
The result, a proud nation abandoning their heavenly homeland and falling into the wicked hands of manipulative war lords. Massacring and displacing over 1.5 million of this ancient civilization leaving less than 5% in the homeland in which they lived and loved from the dawn of time.
The peaks of the Caucasus mountains still cry’s for its children until this day, and today on the saddest of days, the 21st of May with the scar from 1864, every Circassians heart hears the motherlands cries for her children in the diaspora weeping out loud: Come back, for it is here you belong, free roaming amongst the peaks of Kazbek and Albrouz like your brave ancestors, but for now, always keep me in your brave heart.
