David Urquhart, a British diplomat, is traditionally credited with the flag's creation in 1836 when he sent three flags to Circassia, symbolizing independence with a design of a white circle and three black arrows. However, this narrative oversimplifies the complex dynamics and roles played by others, notably Seferbiy Zaneqo, a key Circassian national movement figure who facilitated Urquhart's brief visit to Circassia in 1834.

Seferbiy Zaneqo's involvement was significant in the flag’s introduction to Circassia, a symbol of Circassian identity and sovereignty. The flag’s design connects to the heraldic traditions of the region, tracing back to the banner of Kuchuk Dzhankhotov, a senior prince of Kabarda, which featured similar elements of crossed arrows and stars.

Today, the Circassian flag symbolizes more than a regional emblem; it stands for freedom, unity, and pride. Celebrated with processions and cultural festivities, it represents the resilience and rich heritage of the Circassian people. This is a review of why Navajo is the world’s hardest language to learn, harder even than Chinese, Korean, or Arabic. (In my humble opinion as someone who has studied all of these languages.) The primary reason for this involves Navajo verb complexity: they change like a Rubik’s cube depending on 7 different modes, 12 aspects, and 10 sub-aspects, which mix and match to generate different forms like a giant times table. In addition, pronunciation is also extremely complex with rare sounds like ł, tones, and glottal stops!

ABDZAKH - Don't mispronounce Abdzakh anymore in 2023

Abdzakh is a language spoken by the Abazin people, who are predominantly located in the Republic of Abkhazia, as well as in the Adygea, Karachay-Cherkessia, Kabardino-Balkaria, and Krasnodar Krai regions of Russia.
It belongs to the Abazgi-Adyghe branch of the Northwest Caucasian language family.
The Abdzakh language has approximately 1,500 speakers and is currently considered endangered.
It is known for its complex grammatical structure and unique phonological features.

Pronunciation:
The pronunciation of 'Abdzakh' is abd-ZAKH, with stress on the second syllable.
Alternative variants include abd-ZAAKH or abd-ZAAKH-ee.

Circassian beauty or Adyghe beauty is a stereotype and a belief referring to the women of the Circassian people. A fairly extensive literary history suggests that Circassian women were thought to be unusually beautiful and attractive, spirited, smart and elegant, and as such were desirable (although most Circassians refuse to marry non-Circassians, a requirement of Adyghe Xabze). A similar yet smaller literature also exists for Circassian men, who were thought to be especially handsome.

For effective learning of the Circassian Language, we are using the Teaching Proficiency through Reading and Storytelling or TPRS. It's a fun and stress-free way of learning, it focuses on the most useful vocabulary and uses gestures, visual imagery, spatial memory aid, body language, and voice inflection. PLUS There are no memorized dialogues or grammar worksheets with the TPRS method.

Tea is the most consumed beverage in the world after water. Drinking tea has health benefits due to its anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and weight loss benefits. It also has cultural significance in many societies.

With Circassians moving to live in different countries, some replaced the herb “Kalmehk Shai” with regular tea herb that is prepared in the old method using what is known as “Samovar”, which is a large copper tea pot in which water and the rest of the ingredients are placed. The pot is then placed over coal or firewood to bring the tea to a boil, then serve.

Circassians have now developed their tea-making method by using two tea pots placed on top of each other, the tea is boiled in the top pot and the bottom pot is filled with water used to dilute the tea according to preference.

Circassian tea is served without sugar, but along with special Circassian sweets and pastries including "Al Hafa", delicious pastry stuffed with Circassian cheese and does not contain salt or potatoes, and "Laqum", pastry with sugar. Some serve walnuts, raisins, dried apricots and honey with the tea instead of sugar to add a sweet taste.
