Aaron of the Circassian village Kafr Kama in Northern Israel is the Captain of the soccer youth team of Maccabi Haifa/Nahalal.


Jews, Circassians, Muslim and Christian Arabs all play together at the Maccabi Haifa-Nahalal youth football academy.

In the heart of the Jezreel Valley in the Galilee, on the football fields of Nahalal, a very special youth football team flourishes. This unique soccer squad consists of 13 year-old players from different Israeli backgrounds and cultures. These diverse athletes hone their skills on the grounds of Israel's oldest communal farming village, Moshav Nahalal, which was founded in 1921.
True coexistence is achieved every day through the passion for "the beautiful game" demonstrated by these young men and their families

The Adyghe or Adygs (Arabic: Sharkas), also often known as Circassians or Cherkess, are a North Caucasian ethnic group. Adyghe people mainly speak Circassian (called Adyghe and it has 12 dialects out of which 4 are mostly used.)
The Unrepresented Nations and Peoples Organization estimates that there are as many as 3.7 million "ethnic Circassians" in the diaspora outside the Circassian republics, of whom about 150,000 live in the Middle East.

During World War I, the Battle of Sarikamish took place between the Russian Empire and the Ottoman Empire. Before the battle even began, more than 25,000 Ottoman soldiers froze to death, and thousands more died in the battle that followed. Among them were thousands of Circassians, who had joined the Ottoman army with hopes of freeing their homeland Circassia from Russia.
