In the evening of May 21, Circassian activists in Istanbul held a march of many thousands along Istiklal Street in direction of the Russian Consulate General. The action was organized by the Confederation of Circassian organizations and Caucasian Diaspora in Turkey, and the march was also joined by Crimean Tatars representatives. The march involved Circassians, Adygs, Abkhazians, Vainakhs, Ossetians, and Crimean Tatars. In their hands, they were carrying the banners with the names of organizations and associations represented by their groups, as well as national flags. Besides, the activists were carrying the posters with slogans addressed to Russia and the international community and calling for recognition of the Circassian genocide and the cessation of repression of Circassian repatriates in Russia. Beautiful Circassian Music!

Here is the band playing four tunes to go with the Circassian circle dance. We recorded this at Jimmy's Cellar bar Glasgow in June 2020. The Tunes are:
The White Cockade, The Rakes of Mallow, the reel of Tullochgorum and Aitken drum.

SiPac is an old Circassian Folk Song.

Circassian Chicken

Serves 5-6 people

Cooking time: 20 minutes on medium heat.

Ingredients:

6 thin slices of bread,
2 boiled chicken breasts,
480ml of warm milk,
100g of finely ground walnuts,
2 cloves of garlic,
1 tablespoon of chilli flakes,
4 tablespoons of olive oil,
1 dessert spoon of salt,
1 teaspoon of black pepper,
2 tablespoons sunflower oil.

Tips for the perfect dish: Eat when fresh and avoid storing for long periods of time.

Preparation: Remove the bread crusts and place the bread in a bowl. Add 240ml of warm milk and use a utensil to apply gentle pressure to soften the bread. Make sure all the milk is absorbed by the bread, Add 4 tablespoons of olive oil, the finely ground walnuts, a teaspoon of salt and 2 crushed cloves of garlic. Shred the cooked chicken and add to the other ingredients. Add the teaspoon of black pepper. To get the right consistency, add the remaining warm milk and knead all the ingredients for 1-2 minutes. For serving, heat 2 tablespoons of sunflower oil in a pan and sprinkle 1 tablespoon of chilli flakes on top. Stir and then remove from the stove. Transfer the chicken mixture to a serving plate and pour over the oil and pepper sauce before serving.
