Черкесская(адыгская) диаспора Иордании известна всему миру, во многом благодаря тому, что столица этой страны — Амман — была заложена в 1878 году представителями племени шапсугов. Черкесы сыграли важную роль в становлении Трансиорданского эмирата.
Появление черкесской(адыгской)
диаспоры в различных странах мира стало возможным по причине массового насильного выселения черкесов(адыгов) в Турцию.
С 1763 черкесские(адыгские) племена 101 год вели вооруженную борьбу против экспансии Российской империи, которая окончилась 21 мая 1864 года, из за использованной генералом Евдокимовым тактики выжженной земли.
После этого большая часть черкесов(адыгов) была переселена в Османскую империю.
В настоящее время представители черкесской(адыгской) диаспоры проживают в более чем 50 странах мира.
Больше всего черкесов(адыгов) находится в Турции, по разным данным их там от 3 до 6 млн.
На 1987 год в Сирии насчитывалось около 100 тысяч черкесов(адыгов), половина из которых проживала в провинциях Тартус и Латакия; многие проживают на территории Голанских высот.
В Иордании черкесская(адыгская) диаспора по разным данным составляет от 100 до 150 тысяч человек.
В России по переписи 2010 года черкесов(адыгов) насчитывается 718727, в основном проживают в республиках Адыгея КБР и КЧР, а также в Краснодарском и Ставропольских краях.

I continue my journey through Russia in the 1950s with these photographs of Nalchik, by the Journalist & photographer Semyon Friedland.
Nalchik is the capital city of the Kabardino-Balkar Republic, Russia and is located in the foothills of the Caucasus Mountains.
The territory of the city has a long history. The modern city, though, was founded in 1818 when General Yermolov, of the Imperial Russian Army established a fort here. In 1838, a Russian military settlement was founded in the city. In 1921, Nalchik was given the status of administrative centre of the Kabardin Autonomous Oblast.
During the Great Patriotic War, Nalchik was occupied by Nazi Germany & Romania between October 28, 1942 and January 3, 1943. the city was heavily damaged ……..
