Ya'll know I LOVE a thrifty project, and wedding gowns have such a stigma for being expensive! I know this won't be everyone's cup of tea, but a wedding gown can be as fancy or casual as you like! That's the beauty of it being your own wedding. I do wish I would have had a model, but I made this dress in such a quick turnaround, so I had NO time! Would have loved to see how drape the sleeves were, and that little shoulder moment.... next time! ha!

Kings and Generals historical animated documentary series on the early modern era history continues with a video on the Circassians and how Russia massacred them. The sad truth about the Era of Colonization is that campaigns of conquest of lands and the so-called civilizing of indigenous peoples were very often accompanied by gruesome violence and genocidal actions. Imperialist powers would plunder, rape, pillage, and murder after dehumanizing native populations in the name of civility, progress, divine justice, and their own racial superiority. Western Empires are often the main targets of criticism in that respect, and rightly so. But they were not the only perpetrators. The Russian Empire has its own history of violence against indigenous populations in its quest for expansion and the Circassian Genocide is one of its bloodiest atrocities. In this video, we are going to describe the long history of violence by the Russian Empire against the Circassian people.

These stairs have a lot of bounce to them, I’m going to frame a support wall in the middle to fix it.
First, I measure and lay off where the wall will go.
Then I cut a pressure treated 2x4 to the width of the stairs- 42”.
I fasten it to the floor using three masonry screws.
Next, I use my 4-foot level to plumb up and mark where the top of the wall will meet the stairs.
I make a mark on both ends and connect them with a level.
Now I need to figure out the angle of the steps- I start by making a plumb line on the stringer; then I take my speed square and rotate it so it’s parallel with this line- It’s a 31-degree angle.
I used my table saw to make a 31-degree bevel on both sides of the top plate.
I fasten this to the bottom of the stairs using decks screws- two per stringer.
Measuring from the bottom plate to the top plate I get the lengths for my studs.
I set my miter saw to 31-degrees and make the cuts.
It’s good to check that the angle is correct before cutting all of them.
I use screws to install everything so there are no squeaks- two in the top and two in the bottom.
Finally, I put the rest of the studs in- one directly under each stringer.
Now, these stairs are super sturdy – if you like this content, be sure to like and subscribe. @hausplans

Album: Venice [ALBUM]
Track: 5 of 12
Title: Circassian
Artist: Fennesz
Label: Touch
Cat#: TO53
Formats: CD
Digital Release: 26th April 2004
Physical Release: 26th April 2004

About This Release:

- Fennesz burst upon the scene with 'Instrument' [Mego, 1995], applauded by The Wire for his: 'takes some skillful manipulation to simultaneously tug those heartstrings and poke them with tiny pins' [Nick Phillips, City Pages, USA]

- Fourth studio album by Christain Fennesz, following the successful 'Endless Summer' [Mego, 2001], which sold over 20,000 copies.

- His most accessible works to date, this marks the crossroads between electronic music? early status as digital subculture and it's emotional quality towards melody and rapture.

- Artwork & Photography by Jon Wozencroft [6 panel digipak]
- Collaboration with David Sylvian [Mego] on 'Transit''

Reviews for This Release:

"?seems to drift as you are going into yourself in a state of dreamworld and somewhat melancholy and then rises to somethines-spectacular explosions of hectic organ droned electronic noises." - Eleanor Jones (Rant)

"There's a certain dark quality to it, yet beautiful and mesmerising , it's one to close your eyes to and picture beautiful landscapes." - Eleanor Jones (Rant)

"Manipulates blizzards of statick drone for meditative, occasionally rockish ends, fragments of melody threaded through the abstraction. It's also hymanely crafted with a warmth unsusual in the avant-garde." - Uncut

"...unique technique and production alue, which many are trying to copy" - Wire

""THE REST OF THE BEST No.1"

11. FENNESZ Venice (Touch)" - Themilkfactory.co.uk

"LIVE REVIEW OF CORNET GIG
"...Next to test the Coronet?s fabulous soundsystem is Fennesz who apparently takes a second of My Bloody Valentine and extends it over half an hour with the aid of extensive diamond-hard abrasively digital distortion. Although painfully loud within the speaker-surrounded main floor, there?s something ineffably soothing about having your cochlea pierced in this manner".
http://www.playlouder.com/feature/+fourtetetc/" - http://www.playlouder.com

""Though Venice offers the intrigue of ?experimental? music, it is also melodic and easily digestible - it isn?t lazily provocative, difficult or abrasive but utterly lovely." ***"" - Dave Hemingway (Record Collector)

""Ambient hasn?t had much of a profile since the early Nineties, when Aphex Twin was soldering together his homemade gear and making electronica without repetitive beats was a political act. Now we have ?intelligent dance music? (aka ?glitch? etc), an umbrella term for digital composition that shuns the straitjacket of song in favour of crackle and fizzes that, in the right hands, become emotive soundscapes. Few have abler hands than Christian Fennesz, whose latest album takes up where 2001?s Endless Summer left off. His warm drones, ebbing analogues and dysfunctional digitals recall the sublime bliss-outs of My Bloody Valentine as much as they suggest ghosts in the modern machine. It?s deeply lovely; and for variety, David Sylvian sings on one track, returning the production favour Fennesz did for him on his last record"" -
Kitty Empire (The Observer)

""Venice layers great plains of sound in a manner that?s likely to cause poetic ramblings in reviews with far higher word limits... unavoidable."" - Buzz

""Gorgeous digital etherealism from Vienna"" - Uncut Magazine
