MAY 21 is the painful Memorial Day of the Circassian people.
A day in which we bow our heads in memory of all those 1.6 million victims who have committed suicide in the cruel war to defend the homeland.

My grandfathers foughts bravely for more than a hundred years against the Russian Empire.
This brutal empire burned down their villages, executed their wives and children, and eventually expelled them from OUR HOMELAND in the northern Caucasus Mountains.

This is a story that is not about the world.

More than 160 years ago my people were dismantled ... crushed into small pieces and scattered in every possible across the globe.

AND SINCE THEN WE REMEMBER.

We grow up on stories of heroism, learning carefully about war heroes. You hear the mythology and admire the culture, the customs and the language.

And today? The world does not see and show the hidden.

155 years - still here - still circassian !!
