Circassian Circle is an Country Dance published by Chivers in 1822 (The Handbook of Modern Dancing). This version was interpreted by Howe in 1858 and then Burchenal in 1918. Burchenal's version is the same as Howe's except that she changes a "Balance" in Howe to a "Partner Swing".

Burchenal suggests three tunes for this dance, I picked "On the Road to Boston", a revolutionary war reel, which was performed by Colin Hume.

This appears to be the original name for what we now call a "Sicilian Circle". Today we think of it as a way of dancing in a circle rather than longways that can be applied to almost any minor set dance. But once upon a time there was an actual dance of that name.

The animation plays at 120 counts per minute normally, but the first time through the set the dance is slowed down so people can learn the moves more readily. Men are drawn as rectangles, women as ellipses. Each couple is drawn in its own color, however the border of each dancer indicates what role they currently play so the border color may change each time through the minor set.

They say the Adyghes (Circassian) are one of the oldest peoples in the world. Today these people are scattered around the world. According to some reports, the Adyghe (Circassian) population today is 14 million. Here, people still abduct their brides and bridegrooms, never meeting their future wife's parents. Here you can find old table-stones and also meet the first female gunsmith in the Northern Caucasus.

Documentary film “The Man from Psibe Village” on the Circassian settlement of Psibe in Shapsughia in westernmost Circassia.

The film is about the work of the rural postman X’useyn Achmiz (Aчyмыжь), a resident of the Circassian village of Psebe (Пcыбэ [Psibe], in Circassian), “in the Adigean Autonomous Oblast” [this is inaccurate]. It depicts the life in a (Shapsugh) Circassian village in the early 1970s. Although the village Psebe is billed as being in the Adigean Autonomous Oblast, it is actually in the Shapsugh Region, to the north of the town of Tuapse. Psibe (Пcыбэ) literally means “Water Abundant” in Circassian. It has a population of a few hundreds, mainly Circassians. The number of villagers has been decreasing in the past few decades

It is hoped that the Shapsugh Region would be joined to the Republic of Adigea for the benefit of both the Adigeans and Shapsugh. Adigea would then have access to the Black Sea, and the Shapsugh would benefit from the Circassian language and culture institutions in Adigea, which would stem the rising tide of assimilation.

5. Postman Achmiz takes part in “sch’ihafi” «ш1ыxьафы», an ancient Circassian custom whereby the residents of a village assemble to build or fix a house for a needy family on a voluntary basis.
6. Postman hands a woman a "talking letter". She listens to it on a record-player. "I am alive and kicking, and doing alright. My work is also going well! ...”
