On the 158th anniversary of the Circassian Exile, one of the most upsetting events in human history, we commemorate the Circassians with mercy as they were martyred and displaced from their homeland while defending it.

Kfar Kama was founded in 1876 by Circassians (Adyghe) who were defeated in the Russian-Caucasian war and expatriated from their native lands. People managed to preserve their roots and national identity. They communicate with each other in their native Adyghe language, prepare dishes of national cuisine and dance traditional Circassian dances in national costumes. There is still the rite of the abduction of the bride.
Circassians practice Islam (Sunni).
On weekends and holidays in the village, they organize festivals with dancing and treats, watching movies of the history of the Circassian people.
In the museum, you can see the history of Circassian life over the past 150 years. There are also things found at the excavation site.
We recommend visiting the shop of cheeses that are unusually tasty!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W0l0YuJMs6k

May 21, 1864; It is the symbolic date of systematic genocide carried out to Circassians. During this genocide by Tsarist Russia, hundreds of thousands of Circassians died, while ninety percent of the surviving Circassian population was exiled to the Ottoman Empire.
Today, we are speaking as a child of a generation who survived from the Circassian Genocide:
RECOGNIZE THE GENOCIDE!
Today we are angry as a Circassian.
Because; despite the Circassian Genocide took over 155 years, there is not a single step taken by Russia to compensate for the injustice we have suffered.
Russia still continues to implement its colonial policies in the Caucasus.
Although the regime changes, the Russian state is still acting with the motto “A Circassia without the Circassians, a Caucasus without the Caucasians”.
Against these policies, we raise our voice wherever Circassians live:
MAY21 CONTINUE!
Today we are angry and we have a word to the state of Russia, who ignores us for even the most basic demands in our homeland.
Despite all the colonial policies you have implemented and manipulation attempts
WE DID NOT EXTINCT, WE WILL NOT BE!
We are standing against your attempts to distort the history and ignore the Circassian people and the the tragedy we had:
21 MAY IS THE DAY OF THE DEFIANCE!
We speak to the peoples of the world and the conscientious people of Russia; don't take part in your state's crimes
RECOGNIZE THE GENOCIDE!
Despite all our suffering, trauma and human rights violations, we are not aiming to revive historical hostilities. We raise our demand for justice.
IF THERE IS NO JUSTICE, THERE IS NO PEACE!
We declare that we will never forget the Circassian Genocide and the perpetrator of this genocide.
RECOGNIZE THE MAY21 CIRCASSIAN GENOCIDE!

Listening is a more natural way of learning, when compared to reading. Written language only began at around 3200 BC, but spoken language has existed long ago.

Learning by listening is a great way to:
- increases imagination and understanding

SUMMARY
=======
Circassian beauties is a phrase used to refer to an idealized image of the women of the Circassian people of the Northwestern Caucasus. A fairly extensive literary history suggests that Circassian women were thought to be unusually beautiful, spirited, and elegant, and as such were desirable as concubines.
This reputation dates back to the Late Middle Ages, when the Circassian coast was frequented by traders from Genoa, and the founder of the Medici dynasty, Cosimo de' Medici, had an illegitimate son from a Circassian slave. During the Ottoman Empire and Persian Safavid and Qajar dynasties, Circassian women living as slaves in the Sultan's Imperial Harem and Shah's harems started to build their reputation as extremely beautiful and genteel, which then became a common trope in Western Orientalism. As a result of this reputation, in Europe and America Circassians were often characterised as ideals of feminine beauty in poetry and art. Cosmetic products were advertised, from the 18th century on, using the word "Circassian" in the title, or claiming that the product was based on substances used by the women of Circassia.
In consequence, most wives of several Ottoman Sultans were ethnic Circassians converted to Islam, e.g. Valide Sultans (Empress mothers), including Perestü Valide Sultan, Pertevniyal Valide Sultan, Şevkefza Valide Sultan, Tirimüjgan Valide Sultan, Nükhetseza Başhanımefendi, other important Hatuns (Ladies) and Sultans like Şemsiruhsar Hatun and Saçbağlı Sultan, Haseki sultans (chief consorts) such as Mahidevran Haseki Sultan, Hümaşah Haseki Sultan, Hatice Muazzez Haseki Sultan, and Ayşe Haseki Sultan besides numerous Başkadınefendis (most senior consorts), including Bedrifelek I, Bidar II, Kamures I, and Servetseza I as well as Kadınefendis (senior consorts) such as Bezmara VI, Düzdidil III, Hayranıdil II, Meyliservet IV, Mihrengiz II, Neşerek III, Nurefsun II, Reftaridil II, Şayan III, amongst many others, or İkbals (honoured lady consorts), most notable of them being Cevherriz II, Ceylanyar II, Dilfirib I, Nalanıdil III, and Nergis IV in addition to Gözdes (favourite lady consorts), including Dürdane I, Hüsnicenan III, Safderun IV, amongst others. The "golden age" of the Circassian beauty may be considered to be between the 1770s, when the Russian Empire seized the Crimean Khanate and cut off their slave trade in Eastern European women, which increased the demand for Circassian women in Near Eastern harems; and the 1860s, when the Russians destroyed Circassia itself.
In the 1860s the showman P. T. Barnum exhibited women who he claimed were Circassian beauties. They wore a distinctive curly, big hair style, which had no precedent in earlier portrayals of Circassians, but which was soon copied by other female performers in the United States, who became known as "moss-haired girls". This hair style was a sort of a exhibit's trademark and was achieved by washing the hair of women in beer, drying it and then teasing it. It is not clear why Barnum chose this hairstyle. It may have been a reference to the Circassian fur hat, rather than the hair.
There were also several classical Turkish music pieces and poems that praise the beauty of the "Lepiska Saçlı Çerkes" (Straight, flaxen-haired Circassian; "lepiska" refers to long blonde hair which is soft and straight, as if flatironed).

One of the most ancient languages of Eastern Europe, the Circassian language belongs to the Abazgi–Adyghe language isolate family. There are two written (mutually-intelligible) Circassian (aka Adyghe) dialects: Lowland Adyghe (Кӏах Адыгабзэ) and Kabardian Adyghe (Къэбэрдей Адыгэбзэ). It is much easier for the speaker of the latter to understand the former which is the dialect spoken in this video.

Circassians created elegies and sang about every single aspect of life. About heroes, warriors, legends, nature, suffering, etc. As it’s also already clear from the two previous posts.

The word for “Elegy” in Circassian is “Ghibze” which literally translates to “language of crying”. Minstrels would engage in the practice of lamenting through elegies that resounded with tales of sorrow, history, and culture specific to the Circassian people.

This specific Ghibze is about Murat Wezi, against Russian despotism. Written by the great Circassian poet and bard Bechmirze Pasch’e (1859-1936), it relates the heroic story of Murat Wezi (real first name “Toqw”; born in 1858 in the village of Qaledes, near Georgiyevsk in the north of Kabarda, now in the Stavropol Krai), the intrepid Circassian abrek (абрздж; abrej; protector of the weak and poor), and his struggle against tyranny in the period of Tsarist Russia’s occupation of Circassia. He managed to escape many times from the clutches of the Tsarist invaders, despite perfidious tip-offs. One account tells of his emigration to Turkey, where he lived until his death. Another version has him exiled to Siberia, whence he never comes back.

- I know it’s not the best translation, but did anything to translate it as accurate as possible.

- Gwmqale (Пумкьалз) is a town (nowadays called “Georgievsk”) situated on the Kuma River (Tyм in Circassian) in (Greater) Kabarda to the northeast of Bgiytxw (6гитxy; Pyatigorsk).

(Resources gathered from the works of the late Amjad Jaimoukha)
