Folklore Circassian music with modern interpretation, author unknown

Tea is the most consumed beverage in the world after water. Drinking tea has health benefits due to its anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and weight loss benefits. It also has cultural significance in many societies.

With Circassians moving to live in different countries, some replaced the herb “Kalmehk Shai” with regular tea herb that is prepared in the old method using what is known as “Samovar”, which is a large copper tea pot in which water and the rest of the ingredients are placed. The pot is then placed over coal or firewood to bring the tea to a boil, then serve.

Circassians have now developed their tea-making method by using two tea pots placed on top of each other, the tea is boiled in the top pot and the bottom pot is filled with water used to dilute the tea according to preference.

Circassian tea is served without sugar, but along with special Circassian sweets and pastries including "Al Hafa", delicious pastry stuffed with Circassian cheese and does not contain salt or potatoes, and "Laqum", pastry with sugar. Some serve walnuts, raisins, dried apricots and honey with the tea instead of sugar to add a sweet taste.

Circassia as it was originally, doesn't exist anymore. It was the last country to be occupied by Russia during the Caucasian War, and the last to adopt Islam. Circassians were Christians years before the genocide happened.
The war ended with the Circassian Genocide, in 1864. According to the Circassian Cultural Institute, 1-1.5 million Circassians were killed. Another 1 million Circassians were deported.
Until now, the genocide needs recognition and the only government that actually recognized this event formally as a genocide was the government of Georgia.

Circassian folk music - The music of Northern Caucasus
I studied different dialects and subgroups of Armenian people and learned very interesting history about the neighborhood of Armenian and Circassian nations. Not everyone in Armenia knows the history of Cherkesogais. Cherkesogais or Circassian Armenians are ethnic Armenians who have inhabited Russia's Krasnodar Krai and Republic of Adyghea since the end of 15th century and spoke the Cyrcassian language (currently, most of them speak Russian as their first language), apart from other Armenians living in the region. They reside mostly in the cities of Armavir and Maykop. They have long history of the neighborhood with Circassian people. But studying the history of Circassian people found out that the friendly neighborhood of our people is not the only thing we share together. Circassians and Armenians share identical sad and tragic history regardless to their ethnic and religious differences . This video is a tribute to Circassian people as we can understand all the struggles and difficulties they faced back in 19th century.
